Precise Nutrition and Cancer a New Research

Posted Nov 8th, 2020 in Acupuncture, Tips, Naturopathic Medicine, News

Many Cancer types such as Breast Cancer, Lung Cancer, Prostate Cancer, and Colorectal cancer develop relapse after the primary treatment of Surgery, Radiation, Chemotherapy, and or Hormonal treatments. With the advancements in recent Oncology Interventions such as development of precise Radiation Therapy Techniques (such as IMRT/IGRT) and new Targeted agents that replaced or working in synergy with the traditional Chemotherapy agents, there is clear improvement in the response of cancers to the Oncology interventions. However, there are also many trends of cancer recurrences after the initial treatment start which changed the overall prognosis of certain types of cancers and poses a threat to the overall wellbeing on patients.

It is a well known fact  that the immune system is integral in the cancer care and oncology practice. There are many factors that influence the immune system and they must be well maintained during and after the oncology interventions to keep the immune system up and working. Many of these factors are related to the nutrition, and by the term nutrition, I do not mean the simple balance between fats, carbohydrates. Proteins, vitamins, and minerals, but rather to keep certain elements in food at required levels to maintain the integrity of the immune system. This is called Precise Nutrition.

Recently, a New Research was published in the Nutrients Journal in 2019 about the role of the Precise Nutrition and Cancer Care and it highlighted the significance of certain types of Precise Nutrients in Cancer Care such as EGECG component of the Green Tea and Curcumin Extract of Turmeric. The Research did not only mention the significance of these precise nutrition elements in Cancer Care but is also highlighted the recommendation of certain nutrients for certain types of cancer. At the end of this research, a recommendation to design more research projects in the same area is highly warranted.
