Anti Aging and Skin Health Care

This article discusses anti-aging and Skin Health Care.

The skin is by far the largest organ of the body in surface area. By default, the skin is more vulnerable to environmental pollution and damage than other organs.

The toxins that the skin is exposed to every day are many; for example, an excess of UV (Ultraviolet) rays from the sun, especially on a sunny day, and the enormous amounts of hydrocarbons and organic waste in the air, especially if you live close to industrial areas or where excess flames/fumes are produced daily.

On top of that, poor nutrition, inadequate water intake, and the use of local chemicals such as different creams/ointments or cosmetics in general will add to the problem of skin damage.

General factors contribute as well, such as the lack of proper sleep, feeling tired during the day, hormonal imbalance, especially in the perimenopause pr post menopause periods of women’s lives, and last but not least, systemic illnesses such as uncontrolled diabetes or kidney disease.

From the previous information, we can conclude that there are many factors that potentially contribute to skin health problems such as skin dryness and wrinkles.

Scientists all over the world studied the net impact of these toxic/hormonal/nutritional imbalances on skin and hair health and found that the result of these factors is most probably an oxidative damage to the skin and hair follicles, which means that the creation of an excess of Reactive Oxygen Species (or ROS) is the final mechanism of damage to the skin and hair.

From this theory, many scientists supported the idea of neutralizing the ROS or oxidative damage molecules to improve/reveres the skin damage caused by these molecules.

This idea has been discussed by many scientists several years ago, as illustrated in this research (Masaki H 2010),   https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20399614/

So the use of antioxidants can be useful in protecting the skin from these ROS molecules and potentially repairing the damage to the skin caused by these molecules. This should be accompanied by other lines of care such as proper nutrition, hydration, and general skin care recommendations. Acupucnture can also help in reducing the skin wrinkles.

These antioxidants can be given either orally, intravenously, or both.
